MM. M.Glen Avenue·2+ weeks agoSo a little rant.. at around 3 today at walgreens on 2324 W War Memorial Dr, Peoria, IL 61614. I was waiting for a family member to come out. I noticed an older woman, then me in her mid to later 50s or older leave and looked confused walking around the parking lot. She looked at me a few times, shrugging like you do when you misplace your car. Well, after a few more mins and her walking all the way to McDonald's and back, I knew something more was going on. I care for my father with dementia. I got out and asked if she could find her car. She said she didn't have 1. I said ok ok, we're you dropped off by Uber or a friend or something. She said she was dropped off, and I said well let's get out of the middle of the parking lot, so we didn't get hit. I said, "Do you have a phone to call whoever is who brought you Here. Took 2 minutes to get her phone on and find the person. A few people during this time noticed and asked if she had a key fob. I said no, she doesn't, and even if she did, I'd call the cops to assist her because she clearly shouldn't be driving. I asked what type of care the person she was with. She said if she saw it, she would notice it. Well, she called, and 15 feet from us, a guy got out. She recognized him. I said, "Are you serious? She's been walking all over the parking lot and down to McDonald's looking for you, and we have been here for 3 minutes. He shook his head like it was her fault. I was livid. I left and took til now for me to calm down. I pray that wasn't her spouse because he obviously doesn't love her. I pray that if it's family like sibling, they get their act straight and stop blaming her for her obviously cognitive issues that are almost likely dementia. If your family member of any age us forgetting basic things, especially conversations, get them checked. So many think dementia is a elderly issue. it's not. Dementia can be caused by many things like sleep apnea, alcohol use. High blood pressure and so on. Dementia can start in your 40s, 50s, and so on. Hell, even younger in extremely rare cases. Stop assuming you have a life time to avoid issues. To that guy who didn't care about her, give her to someone who will. Because sending her in a store and have her come out confused is disgusting. It's not her fault.124Like75

PPEORIA COUNTY2+ weeks agoAgencySCAM ALERT! The Peoria County Treasurer's Office has been made aware of scam letters that have been delivered in the area claiming that the recipients' taxes have not been paid in full. The letter (seen here) is not an official Peoria County communication despite having our name on the top. There are a few ways to tell that this is a scam: 1.) The letter uses scare tactics combined with a sense of urgency, such as the instructions to act on a debt within only a few days of the letter being sent. 2.) The phone number on the letter can't be found on any official Peoria County materials, such as our website. 3.) The letter does not have any sort of address to visit or send physical materials to, such as the Peoria County Courthouse. If you believe you may be seeing a scam in action, you can report it to the Peoria County Victim Services Coordinator at (309) 697-7855 during regular business hours.29Like20
